NYSCAA is a part of a national movement to end poverty. NYSCAA is a member of several national groups that do important work on the national level and provide vital resources to local Community Action Agencies.

The National Community Action Partnership. The National Community Action Partnership was established in 1971 as the National Association of Community Action Agencies (NACAA) and is the national organization representing the interests of the 1,000 Community Action Agencies (CAAs) working to fight poverty at the local level.

The Partnership’s mission is to be a national forum for policy on poverty and to strengthen, promote, represent, and serve its network of member agencies to assure that the issues of the poor are effectively heard and addressed.

The Partnership is committed to improving the lives of low-income people. The association accomplishes this by educating, supporting, and empowering CAAs with training courses, the Certified Community Action Professional peer-recognition program, the Award for Excellence in Community Action and Pathways to Excellence in Community Action, annual convention workshops, and Resource manuals.

CAPLAW. CAPLAW 's mission is to provide effective legal education and assistance that enables Community Action Agencies (“CAAs”) to enhance their capacity to operate legally sound organizations; and to strengthen CAAs’ ability to provide opportunities for low-income individuals and families to achieve self-sufficiency.

Through its in-house legal staff and a network of private attorneys, CAPLAW provides legal consultation, training, and publications on a wide variety of legal and management topics. This assistance enables CAAs to operate legally sound organizations and to promote the effective participation of low-income people in the planning and delivery of CAA programs and services, thereby enhancing CAAs' ability to provide the nation's poor with opportunities to improve their quality of life and achieve their full potential.
